“Milius” Documentary Review: Girls, Gold and Guns!

Late last night, after my daughter drifted off to dream of the splendor of the battlefield and ice cream and with the tapping of rain hitting my roof, I was able to sit down to watch a story about one of the greatest storytellers of them all. I was first excited to see that “Milius” was 1 hour and 43 minutes. Usually these types of films are a little over an hour and that’s all. What can you say? John had accomplished a lot in life. All the biggest directors in Hollywood seemed to be involved with interviews including Spielberg, Lucas, Coppola and Eastwood so my expectations ran high with what I perceived the quality would be.

The tone in the opening was very well done to set up John’s charisma, machismo and bravado. It captured my attention immediately and really got me excited to watch the film. I especially liked some of the opening quotes from John’s children, who were included throughout the entire film. There were many of John’s friends included as well to help paint the portrait of the “man”, not just the film-maker.

The early life pieces were really captivating as it exposed things about John I had not known. It really put into perspective how he was formed as a person. From childhood, to his early adult life, to the military and finally his decision on entering film school as pretty much the next logical step from a military career. The USC Film school pieces were fantastically interwoven with commentary from Spielberg, Coppola, Lucas and Randal Kleiser. It wasn’t hard to hear them speak about how, of all the USC prospects, John was regarded as the most talented and the best storyteller.

“Milius” , through participant commentary, was successful in perpetuating the stigma of John Milius. His co-star’s, fellow directors and Hollywood top brass shared stories of the exploits of a renegade. A maverick, that had taken Hollywood script writing by the throat and squeezed with delight. George Hamilton, whose words scribed the title of this review, told of John’s request for the above in exchange for writing a script. Hamilton grinned affectionately as he told of John being held up in George’s Palm Springs Villa to write, only to be reported back that John had beaten a script to pieces in a pool and delighted in riding motorcycles all day. At Hamilton’s protest, John sent Hamilton over 150 telegrams with a script that he had written in under three days.

“Milius” goes on to talk about John’s success with Apocalypse Now, Big Wednesday and Conan the Barbarian. It spent the large portion of its run focused on what happen to John after his involvement in the film “Red Dawn”. I guess I never really thought of it before but there is a huge gap from “Red Dawn” until his next major project. 5 years to be exact. John describes it as blacklisted, but his associates describe it as punishment for contempt. Especially outspoken against John in “MIlius” is Oliver Stone. While he has only a few parts in which he comments, there seems to be no love lost for John.

The hardest part to watch, for me, was the part of the film surrounding John’s stroke and the temporary loss of the power of speech. Hearing Spielberg describe it “besides death, it was the worst thing that had ever happen to a friend of mine” almost brought me to tears. It was a proper juxtaposition for what the film-makers of “MIlius” had attempted. They had built up John to be a mountain and then humbled him with one swift motion. They referred to him in the film as a bear, a mountain, a burly individual who brandishes guns and would drop bombs on children (Darren Dalton’s recollection) and then suddenly, he is John Milius the man. A man that had to learn to speak again and hold things again and tell stories again. I respect John Milius more after watching this documentary and the world should too.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a guest star in this documentary and we see him in his Governor's office for his interview contributions. My TheArnoldFans official film review is 9 out of 10 stogies (only a 9 because they didn’t interview me).

“In the all new episodes of Game of Thrones they talk about “Valerian Steel”//Hope John is loving this show// & you are too. Love Sandy”

“Do you have Netflix?”

“No, but why…I want to know”

“The new Milius Documentary is on there and I hear it is awesome. I’m going to start watching it in like 5 minutes”

“I don’t have Netflix. I want to watch it. = /”

How many lucky people out there get to have this text conversation with Sandahl Bergman as they get ready to sit down and watch the newest Netflix documentary “Milius”? Not many, but Cromisgod is certainly one of them.

Terminator: Genesis Starts Filming!

Alright, "it is time" again for the Gillinator to come out from behind the website curtain and start a new Terminator Report series! Why is that? Well, unless you are new to TheArnoldFans or have been living in a nuclear fallout bunker like John Connor and Kate Brewster at the end of T3, you know that a new Terminator movie is under way! Even better, it is once again starring our favorite cybernetic organism, Arnold Schwarzenegger in the titular role! Sure, it was fun to see CG Arnold smack Christian Bale around in Terminator Salvation for a couple minutes, but that bright spot in an otherwise so-so movie was really just a tease for what the fans really want: Arnold being BACK!

And back he is. The filming is happening over the next few months mostly in New Orleans, and it officially started on Monday, Aprill 21, with director Alan Taylor, who did "Thor: The Dark World." Skydance Productions tweeted out this cool image of the first scene's clapboard for Roll 1 Take 1. It shows the new variant of the Terminator font, and that the codename for the movie is in fact "Vista." Codenames are common practice for big name productions like this, so as to not draw too much public attention by plastering "TERMINATOR" everywhere.

While you may at first think the "RIP Sarah" label in the corner has something to do with Sarah Connor's demise being filmed, fear not, this is not a spoiler. It is paying respect to a camera assistant named Sarah Jones, who died early this year in a terrible train accident while filming "Midnight Rider."

Here is also a closeup of the director's chair back!

Finally, we created this poster image to celebrate the start of this timeline, but just to clarify- this is NOT a pic of Arnold from the set, just him looking bad-ass with those shades and leather pants.

It's not much yet, but still gets me pumped in anticipation of more cool pics from the set as the shoot progresses. My CPU is overloaded trying to calculate what cool action and time-twisting plot they've got planned for this. Who knows, I may even get my own look at some of Cyberdyne's secrets. For now, follow @Skydance on Twitter, our Facebook page, and prepare for more Terminator updates right here! If you live in New Orleans and hear about any locations, or have pics or stories of your own, contact me HERE. Hasta la VISTA!

The Week In Arnold News: T5 Posters, Expendables 4 & Rio!

Congratulations to South America champion Steve Kuclo, winner of  Arnold Classic Brasil! We all know Arnold Schwarzenegger loves Rio so he made sure he attended the annual sports festival before heading back to the United States to film Terminator 5. At the Classic, Arnold met many sports athletes, bodybuilders and even a generation of future fitness heroes. Check out this picture that Arnold posted on Facebook showing himself surrounded by youthful flexing fans.

In other news, Predator and Last Action Hero director, John McTiernan told Empire Magazine that he'd be happy to direct The Expendables 4. Although we certainly would like McTiernan to reteam with Arnold, we'd celebrate even harder if they'd do a new Predator together. Maybe that's something they can shoot for to be released in 2017 to make it the 30 year anniversary of the 1987  release of the original Predator film. Expendables 4 is now said to have Pierce Brosnan and Hulk Hogan joining the cast. Let's hope McTiernan signs on officially.

Finally, Schwarzenegger fans took to our Facebook page to enter our T5 fan-made poster contest. Many entered but the final grand prize went to Mickael Journou (LEFT)!. Mickael will soon be getting an Arnold-themed prize pack showing up at his door. Runner-up goes to Jense Cels (RIGHT). There are sure some talented Arnold fans! You guys are fan-tastic!

200 Lucky Australians Got to see Sabotage in Theaters!

Arnold fans around the world were excited to hear after extended cameos in Expendables 2, brushing off the dust with The Last Stand and a more comedic involvement with Stallone in Escape Plan…that The KING was BACK in shape and ready to kick ass in an R-Rated action fest from the writers of Training Day.

This was the movie that was putting Arnold back on the map, prior to returning as The Terminator and there was plenty to look forward to. Arnold was in shape, lots of high caliber co-stars such as Sam Worthington, Terrace Howard, Josh Holloway and Joe Manganiello and the director End of Watch & Street Kings (both of which I loved).

Originally slated for January release in the US, then moved to April. Here in Australia, we were excited as it had been over a year since Last Stand hit theatres and Escape Plan didn’t get a theatrical release (except for my fan-organized showings). After huge success with the Escape Plan showings, Australia’s largest cinema chain, Hoyts, asked me if I would like to have the first screening for fans and of course, I jumped at the opportunity!

So here I was again, hiring out a theatre (at considerable expense) and aiming to fill it with 150 fans from Melbourne and a few HARDCORE fans that flew from interstate such as Sydney and Brisbane (Hi Callum & Anya). With the support of Nutrition Warehouse, Studio Canal Australia, Simon & Schuster Australia, The Arnold Collection and of course TheArnoldFans…we sold out the theatre in 2 weeks! I had giveaways such as Arnold’s autobiography Total Recall, Joe’s new book Evolution, Supplements, Movie Posters, Arnold Posters – it was going to be a great night.

Then the movie opened in the US to soft numbers, softer than Escape Plan and ended its run in the US with $11 million… I asked the Australian distributor if they were still planning to open Sabotage nationwide around Australia and sadly, the fate was not what I had hoped. It was decided, like Escape Plan, that Sabotage would now go direct to dvd in a few months. Luckily for 150 fans who wanted to see it FIRST on the big screen they were now to be the ONLY ones seeing it on the big screen.

Friday April 25th in Australia is Anzac Day, a national holiday, it is the day on which we remember Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. It seemed appropriate to watch a movie about a man defending his team, his family and his honor on such a day. (More about this though in my review of the film).

So the screening was Sold Out, I had prizes & giveaways galore and a few local celebrities attending – one a Pro Bodybuilder Scott and another an Aussie Action Icon – Richard Norton that made 20 PLUS films in the 70s, 80s and 90s with Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, Cynthia Rothrock, Michael Dudikoff and will soon be seen in the upcoming Mad Max reboot with Tom Hardy. My brother and I along with a couple of action mates in school (grew up on Richard’s films, so it was an honor to have him in attendance).

One of the benefits of Escape Plan going DTV in Australia was organizing the screenings we had and meeting so many other hardcore Stallone & Schwarzenegger fans, a few of which I now call good mates and speak to regularly…So this screening was like a family reunion, many of which were long time family, friends, new friends and so on. We were all there for 1 reason – SCHWARZENEGGER.

The cinema was full, everyone was excited, we had fans, celebs, friends all in attendance. Many were dressed up as Terminators, Commandos, Muscle Beach chicks, TAF's own Steve Miller looked awesome as BREACHER himself and we even had a Joseph P. Brenner from Raw Deal (luckily he didn’t drink & bake).

I always start the screenings with a welcome and a thank you for all the fans making the effort and putting down their money to attend, then we do some fun giveaways such as Nutrition Warehouse show bags and then we do a quiz (all Arnold related of course) and giveaway some more prizes! We also had our usual best Arnold impersonations and there were some great ones! Graeme did one from Predator (CIA got you pushing too many pencils), Chris and my own father in law – Tom - jumped up and gave us a brilliant “GET TO THE CHOPPA”. Mike won the best dressed, although a little man Reece did a great job of dressing up as Dutch from Predator. He reminds me of myself at 10 years old obsessed with Arnold! Such a cool kid. Studio Canal Australia also gave me a poster signed from the director David Ayer and Joe Manganiello and I decided to auction it off for Charity. We got $200 from Adam Britten who elected the funds to go to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne! I will definitely do more charity auctions at future events!

The crowd loved the prizes, quiz, impersonations…they had their photos taken with the celebs and the Sabotage display our front…The time had come – lights down, credits up time to leave No Loose Ends with Breacher!

Special Thanks to Sponsors: Nutrition Warehouse, Simon & Schuster Australia, Studio Canal Australia, Richard Norton, Ky Furneaux,  IFBB Pro Scott Goble, The Arnold Collection, Hoyts and TheArnoldFans!

Thanks to my assistants on the night: Mike Ski, Steve Miller, Rowan, Paigey, and my wife Karen.

My Review of the Film Itself!

With Arnold films so few and far between and fans starved for content in between releases, I find myself trawling the net for articles, pictures, interviews and so on. Luckily we have TheArnoldFans and social media to interact with like-minded obsessed Schwarzenegger AND action fans!

So when a trailer or footage came up for Sabotage, I couldn’t help it, I watched the trailers over, saved all the pictures in my “Arnold” folder on my desktop and couldn’t wait for the release. I loved the talent involved in front of the screen and behind the camera. I loved the clips released leading up to the screening, Arnold & Joe were everywhere promoting it and the chemistry between them was undeniable.

The bickering between the team members and the nonstop swearing (particularly the first 45-50 minutes) was really off-putting. I am all for realism and language if it is called for, but to enhance the story and to make the scene and situations realistic…but not IN PLACE of good script. Some of the twists were good, others made absolutely no sense…With those elements in front of AND behind the camera I was expecting a movie that was a GRITTY, URBAN, REVENGE movie with heaps of action, violence and a bit swearing. What I got was a murder mystery who dunnit it with heaps of swearing, gore and a bit of action. Will I buy it on blu ray the first day it is released? Of course I will, that’s what Arnold fans do…I may love it more upon repeat reviewing now that I know what the film is about and my expectations of the story & content have been adjusted. But for me, since Arnold’s return I had the most fun with The Last Stand and I would say Sabotage is in second with Escape Plan in a close a third.  7/10 . Bring on Maggie, Expendables 3 and Terminator Genesis!

What did I think in the end? First thing I thought was, wow, those trailers were probably the most misleading trailers I have ever seen. How did the trailer make the film look?  Fairly generic revenge movie – Arnold leads special ops team and fights drug cartels, drug cartel takes his family, Arnold and his team get revenge while they are being killed off one at a time… What was the actual story line? Without spoiling it, the film is nothing like this and isn’t your typical revenge film. Does that make it bad? No, it doesn’t make it bad, it just doesn’t serve you what you were expecting to go into the theatre to see. It is more of a “who dunnit murder mystery of who took the money and who is killing off the team?” It is violent, gory and FULL of swearing… How would I describe it? A combination of Se7en and The Usual Suspects….but not as well crafted as either of those. It has spurts of action but it is SO dark it could have used MORE of Arnold’s humour and one-liners…one Arnold classic line about bodyfat got a HUGE laugh from our audience and the scenes where Arnold was chopping on the cigar and firing the weapons at the end got massive applause. I enjoyed it and Arnold clearly is enjoying getting into films in more of a Clint Eastwood role that is more age appropriate – that’s what I loved about The Last Stand.

Terminator 5 News: Some Speculation & Some Fact!

John Rosengrant, apprentice of Stan Winston and master of Endoskeletons from the previous Terminator films, confirmed to TheArnoldFans earlier that he and his company Legacy Effects will BE BACK for Terminator 5. That was a few weeks ago when he gave us that news but yesterday, Rosengrant participated in an Ask Me Anything chat at reddit.com. We were the first to jump in and ask a Terminator question. Although he's under contract to not divulge any information, he at least confirmed the current film title (although GENESIS might still be dropped) and he was happy to report that the script will not disappoint the fans!

"We're really proud to be working on Terminator: Genesis," says Rosengrant. "The script is great and will please true Terminator fans. I honestly can't go into any details on the film, or they will terminate me."

So far there is a great rumor going around (please let it be true), that the aged T-800, played by Arnold, will time-travel back to key scenes from T1 and T2! Here's a VERY SMALL spoiler if the reports are true; Several sites say that we'll see the young Arnold kill the punks from the first Terminator and then seconds later, we'll see the aged T-800 step in to this same scene. Okay, so this makes me wonder if the aged/present Arnold T-800 shows up NUDE in this scene too and also needs clothes. Seeing that these three punks are dead and two of them still have clothes, I'm thinking that he may take the clothes off of another punk...and guess what, the other big guy, played by Brian Thompson, has a trench coat! How badass would it be if instead of the usual leather, the Terminator is now in a punker trench coat looking how Kyle Reese looked in the first Terminator! The Terminator now looks like John Connor's father! Who knows, maybe he'll even remove a pair of sunglasses from Bill Paxton's coat pocket!

Here's a concept image I put together. Like I said, I have NO IDEA if this look is in the script, but I think it would be great to get away from Arnold in leather AGAIN. Not to mention, if the rumors are true, we'd still get to see a 30s and 40-year-old Arnold in leather from some classic T1 and T2 scenes.

I spoke with Brian Thompson (height 6' 3"), the punker in the trench coat, and he shared with me his favorite Schwarzenegger memory.

"Arnold standing before me - sculpted, naked, smoking a cigar without a care in the world, as if he was the best dressed person there... maybe he was."

I'm so excited to see the first image of Arnold on the set. The hype has me burning in the third degree...so says the song from Tech-Noir!

"Your site is awesome and Arnold should send you a big check for the great publicity!"  – Brian Thompson

Arnold Weekly Pump: Expendables 3 in Cannes & Maggie News!

“Expendables 3” is taking over the Cannes Film Festival and Millennium Films is pulling the punches to make the movie as visible as possible. As part of the publicity campaign for the film, the cast members will be arriving at a press conference in tanks, along with a barrage of giant character banners all along the Promenade de la Croisette. It is possible that Arnold might be the ONLY Expendable driving a tank considering he's the only one with the training and the only Expendable to OWN his very own tank!

Mark Gill of Millennium says this will be an effective campaign  because “for a 30-second TV spot in America, you spend just as much.” Gill continued that focusing on Cannes works since it’s “the place where the whole world is watching for 10 days.” Arnold will be joined by “Expendables” vets Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, as well as new cast members Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Kellan lutz & many more big name stars!
At the Carlton Hotel, banners representing each of the characters will adorn the façade. Later that evening, there will be a big soirée at the Palm Beach nightclub.Expendables 2 made $305M globally.

In other news, Arnold confirmed his zombie drama will in fact be released this year. We're predicting around Halloween after Expendables 3, but the exact date is yet to be determined.
“There’s a movie that I’ve just done, which is called ‘Maggie’,” the Austrian Oak said. “It’s going to come out in the Fall.” To see the other projects Arnold talks about, including a few more Conan films, view this quick interview tidbit here!

Arnold & His Expendables 3 Co-Stars Celebrate Cannes!

The cast of Expendables 3 has a real Cannes-do attitude when it comes to promoting the next flick in the ballsy series. In a parade of tanks and action heroes, The Expendables gang arrived in Cannes to promote the film and to participate in a press conference held at the Carlton Hotel in France. The third film which is due out on August 15th, will be rated PG-13 but that doesn't mean it will be watered-down. The last Expendables film wasn't really that extremely violent so chances are, it will be like one less death and perhaps one less F-bomb. Although we'd prefer an R rating, it's really not a big deal as long as the story is great, villains are blown away and Arnold and the others serve up some heavy machismo with brutal justice. So don't be a PG-13 choir boy cry baby. Stop whining about banning the movie. That just makes you lousy fan. Even if you don't agree with Stallone and the producers of EX3, it is important that you support your action hero's films. Also, we'll probably get an uncut version on Blu-ray so it's all good!

Arnold’s co-star and the protagonist of the “Expendables” series Sylvester Stallone said of the decision: “We want to reach as many people as possible.  It’s very close to an R, believe me, it’s right there.  But I think we owe it to the next generation.  We thought we’d join that club for a while.”

SYNOPSIS

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team come face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 stars Arnold Schwarzenegger (Trench), Sylvester Stallone (Barney Ross), Jason Statham (Lee Christmas), Antonio Banderas (Galgo), Wesley Snipes (Doc), Dolph Lundgren (Gunnar Jensen), Kelsey Grammer (Bonaparte), Randy Couture (Toll Road), Kellan Lutz (John Smilee), Ronda Rousey (Luna),  Glen Powell (Thorn), Victor Ortiz (Mars), with Mel Gibson (Conrad Stonebanks) and Harrison Ford (Drummer).

TAFs Interviews Terminator's Earl Boen: The Cockroach That Wouldn't Die!

Last November Terminator fans in Texas began to rejoice at the addition of a film reunion at Dallas convention, Texas Frightmare Weekend. They began by adding Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn. Slowly but surely celebrity guests were added to the list….Robert Patrick, then Kristanna Loken, then Arnold’s stunt double in so many films, Peter Kent. There was a lull for about 30 days. The guest list paused and Terminator fans yearned for more additions, dreaming about the signatures they could add to their posters. Then there came another addition. Janelle, Jenette Goldstein, was added. Folks that drank milk straight from the carton cringed at the thought. Then another pause. Another lull. Those who go to these events and are familiar with the show circuit understand that there are only a few others not listed, that normally attend shows.

Some of TheArnoldFans may not know that yours truly, CromisGod, has become a convention agent. I work at bringing guests into these types of events across the country. I have a client list over 40 celebrities strong now and have become one of the most respected agents in the business, always working hard to bring in elusive guests.

I was looking at this Terminator guest list early this year and wanted to add to it. I wanted to be part of it and make the event shine. I knew all the biggest stars of the films were going to be there already, besides Arnold of course, so I brooded about who to find. I happen to be at another event and was discussing this show with another agent. We were talking about the guest list and he said to me “Too bad Earl Boen wouldn’t do it, but nobody has been able to contact or find him…so that’s impossible” Now, if anybody knows me, “impossible” is not part of my CPU. I began the hunt for Mr. Boen. I won’t bore you with the details, with the phone calls, with the emails. The fact that this story includes a three day interview with Earl proves that in fact my CPU is not the “learning” type and I don’t know impossible. Here is a three day interaction comprised of my own conversation questions and a fan Q&A involving Dr. Silberman himself, Earl Boen:

Rick: I have to say that I really had a love/hate relationship with your character in the films.

Earl Boen: “I know right, I’m like the cockroach that wouldn’t die. I just keep turning up and showing up. Besides Arnold, I’m the only one that was in all of the first three Terminator movies. Him and I, we are the only two that can say that."

Rick: That’s true. Is it possible that you will be making it a fourth? Any calls into you about the movie that they are making now?

Earl Boen: “Sadly no. I’m old now, Rick...but if they called me, I would do it. Would Silberman be alive? It takes place pretty far in the future, right?

Rick: I think so although I’m not sure. I mean technically it’s the past right…or maybe not.

Earl Boen: (Laughs) "I would still do it…past or future."

Rick: It would be cool if you appeared as like this futuristic hologram that Skynet uses to “condition” humans. Like it pops on an your introduce yourself. That would get huge cheers.

Earl Boen: “Well, you know that was kind of like Terminator 3, ya know. I’m not sure anybody expected me to be in that graveyard scene and from what I’m told, people clapped and stuff when that scene came on in the theatres. I’ve always enjoyed comedy and that scene I got to use it when Silberman is recounting to Clare Danes. Then I get the hell out of there when I see Arnold. Just like a cockroach…I must survive."

Rick: There really wasn’t a lot of comedy from you in the first two films.

Earl Boen: "It wasn’t in the script and Jim wanted done what was in the script. I thought the whole “Model Citizen” line was kinda funny, but when I told Jim that I wanted to add some funny little things he would always tell me “no” and that if I did any that he would just trim/cut it out of the final product. BUT…..there was one moment. We were doing the scene in the hospital hallway, where we tackle Sarah and then Arnold comes in and throws everybody around. So that was the time where Robert (Patrick) was supposed to melt through the bars. They are doing the shot of me looking at him, you know, shocked at what I’m seeing and Jim stops the scene for a second. He says to me “Whats that it your mouth?” I hadn’t realized that I had the hypodermic needle cap still in my mouth. Jim was like “Ok, you wanted some comedy in here…you got it. I want you to drop that thing out of your mouth when you see him come in”. So I did that and it really turned out to be a great part of the scene. It’s kinda of like Silberman realizes that this story Sarah has been telling has some validity.”

Rick: Terminator was your first time working with Jim Cameron, right?

Earl Boen: “No, no..actually it wasn’t. I made a movie in the late 70’s called “Battle Beyond the Stars”. It was this interesting Roger Corman movie with George Peppard and Robert Vaughn. It was a fun sci-fi picture where I played a character called “Nestor”. Roger bought like a lumber yard or something to film it on. Anyway… Jim was the Art director and had something to do with special effects. I met him there."

Rick: I have seen that movie, Sybil Danning right?

Earl Boen: “Oh yes." (smiles)

The Terminator cast also participated in a standing room only panel with at least 1000 people in attendance. Here are some questions that were asked and how Earl answered them:

Fan: I thought that it was kinda of strange that you were psychologist in the first movie yet you were prescribing drugs in the second. Psychologist’s can’t prescribe drugs.

Earl Boen: “There was a long time between those two moments. Maybe Silberman’s career progressed."

Linda Hamilton: (interjecting) “He got a new job and went through classes.”

Fan: I really liked the scene with you and Michael (Biehn) in the police room, it was intense.

Earl Boen: “Well, a lot of those kudos go to Michael, you see, during the filming of that Michael told Jim that Reese would be too smart to think that Silberman was the guy in charge. He has military training and was a resourceful smart soldier. It was Michael’s idea to jump up and start yelling at the surveillance camera, because he thought that Reese knew that that’s where the people in charge were. Hiding behind the camera.”

*Michael Biehn confirmed this and told more of the story at the panel.

Fan: (to the whole panel) Did the Terminator films make you fear the future?

Earl Boen: “They sure make you think about Technology in a different way. A lot of that stuff seems like it came true, too. I don’t own a cell phone, don’t email or any of that electronic stuff.”

All in all, the experience that I had with Earl at this event was fantastic. I sat with him all weekend and he spun yarns of Hollywood in its hayday, working with some of the best directors in the business and life on a movie set. Earl has had a prolific career both in front of the scene and behind the microphone. Chances are if you have played a video game, watched a cartoon or seen a commercial in the last 30 years, it’s Earl’s voice you hear. Now, Earl is satisfied with his retirement in Hawaii with his lovely wife Kathy (who came with him and I got to meet, she was a sweetheart).

It was a great time hanging out with Earl but what would be even greater is if Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions and the producers of Terminator Genesis would strongly consider bringing on Earl Boen onto T5. Fans of the Terminator films would geek out of ultimate delight with the original alumnus of Boen (and get Franco Columbu too). PLEASE bring back Earl, whether it be as a hologram, Dr. Silberman's lost audio tapes, playing a new disguised character, or other. TheTerminatorFans.com and others are also on board with this "Bring BACK Silberman" campaign. As Earl Boen says, he and Arnold are the ONLY actors to star in Terminator 1 - 3. Let's bring back the reunion for Terminator 5!

First Pics of Arnold On Set in Terminator!

The title says it all! Some photos were recently leaked from an indoor set location of the new Terminator movie! These aren't studio-sanctioned, but as with anything on the internet, once they're out there, they're out there, and the fans have certainly been thirsting for the first glimpse of Arnold as the Terminator again! We would likely not post these if they were spoiler-heavy, but as you can see, very little is revealed here. Enough talk, without further ado, here they are:

Our first thoughts on these are that we like Arnold's new "aged" T-800 look. He is definitely looking bad-ass as ever, even just a shadowy figure in the background of these pics, and the jacket style change to something non black leather is good. Previously, many people thought it implausible that Arnold could still play the Terminator at his age without lots of CG help, but as we know, the T-800 is "living tissue over metal endoskeleton." This means their skin ages just like any human, therefore, Arnold can play a Terminator in his 60s. He could also still play a human character in addition to the Terminator, but we've seen no evidence to this yet, and if it was the case, it would be tightly under wraps at this stage, as with most plot details.

We also get to see the other principal actors here: Emilia Clarke as a young Sarah Connor and Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese. Why they are wearing hospital scrubs and pointing a gun at a suited figure is anybody's guess, but they look cool doing it! We know it's not Dr. Silberman unless he was recast too, but that would be a tragedy.

There's not much else to say, other than it's sweet to see Arnold back doing his cybernetic thing! We hope for some OFFICIAL pics and tweets from the set as they continue filming for the next couple months.

More Terminator Talk- Cameron's 2 Cents!

Let's catch up on more Terminator in the news! First, to be clear, no official title has been announced, and the studio has not decided on one as of yet. It COULD end up being "Genesis" as a script draft was titled and most of the internet has been referring to it as such, but it could easily change to something else, so we are just referring to it as "Terminator" until we get official word. What do you guys think it should be called? Comment below or on our Facebook!

It's hard to talk about Terminator without bringing up the creator of the first two amazing movies and the kick-T2:3D ride, James Cameron! Each time a new Terminator movie goes into production, someone will ask him what he thinks of it and if he's involved in any way, and his answer is pretty much the same when it was T3, T: Salvation, and now the new one. He'll say some form of: A. He's moved on from Terminator and isn't interested in making any more B. He's fine with Arnold continuing to be in them C. He's not officially involved but will give some advice to the director/producers.

So here's what he had to say at the LA Times’ 2014 Hero Complex Film Festival a couple days ago:

I pay attention to it but I’m not terribly concerned about it one way or the other. I’ve had to let it go. There was a point in time where I debated going after the rights… I just felt as a filmmaker maybe I’ve gone beyond it. I really wasn’t that interested. I felt like I’d told the story I wanted to tell. I suppose I could have pursued it more aggressively and gone to the mat for it but I felt like I was laboring in someone else’s house in a sense because I had sold the rights very early on.

My goal… was not to insinuate myself artistically but to try to make sure they stayed true to the Terminator character and the idea of Arnold being in it. Because he’s a friend of mine and we’ve been through all the wars together and everything. And I wanted them to see the possibilities I saw for what they could do with this character… And then (producer) David Ellison took the project over… and he and I met a couple times. And so Arnold is very much front and center in the new Terminator films. So I might have had some tiny effect on it… but I won’t have any credit on it.

Yep, sounds like Cameron! It is cool that he does still care enough about Terminator and Arnold to chime in and hopefully steer them towards what he thinks would be cool for the T-800 character, which is hopefully easing up on the jokey stuff that T3 did and make him more of a meanacing, calculating figure again, or "learning" to be human in more interesting ways.

The lucky audience at the festival were treated to a screening of Cameron's masterpiece, T2, and then he again brought up the possibility that it could get the 3D treatment with a re-release in theaters like Titanic did. Unfortunately, this has not been started yet and he didn't give a timeframe. We do have the 25th anniversary of T2 coming up in 2016, seems like 3D Judgment Day is in order by then!

We also saw some new Terminator pictures leaked from a car chase scene filmed over the weekend. They featured Sarah and Kyle, but seemed to be their stunt doubles. We aren't going to re-publish them, because they are unapproved by the studio, plus they could be considered spoilery, and we want fans to go into this movie as fresh as possible, given there should be some cool twists and surprises in store.

A bit earlier, there were also phone videos posted online from a night shoot featuring LOTS of gunfire and explosions. Some sites claimed it was from Arnold's twitter account, but it was clearly a fan-created account (NOT us), and the studio asked sites who posted them to remove them. It is cool to see that the budget is going towards REAL battle effects and explosions instead of CG, as even from the far distance the video was shot at, it's pretty impressive. Let's hope we start getting some OFFICIAL pics from cast or crew to give us a tease of what's in store.

Katherine Schwarzenegger Q&A with TAFs & Apple Audience!

Hey Arnold Fans! Brandon Krum here with a great Schwarzenegger tale to share! Yesterday, on the evening of June 4th at 6pm, the daughter of our hero, Katherine Schwarzenegger, came to the Soho Apple Store in New York City to promote her new book 'I Just Graduated... Now What?' and I didn't let anything get in my way of attending! Luckily I had read of the event on Katherine's Facebook page a few days beforehand, and went to Apple's website to make a reservation immediately!

I made sure to arrive early, and got a prime seat in the front row, just in front of the chairs they set up. I had the perfect spot to get the ultimate Schwarzenegger experience! And after waiting a good 30 minutes while others took their seats, it was time! But just like her father had done when I met him at his New York City Book Signing, she didn't arrive at Apple until only a few minutes before the event actually started!

After walking in with her posse and going right into the back room, Katherine emerged after a few minutes and walked out on stage! She was in great spirits and looked excited to have a chat with Andrew Bevan from Teen Vogue.

They started things off with Katherine reading a few passages from the ending of her book on an iPad Air. Then Andrew asked Katherine a series of questions about the creation process of the book.

Determined to power through the uncertainty of post-graduation, bestselling author Katherine embarked on a yearlong quest to gather the best guidance possible from more than thirty highly successful people working in fields like business, media, fashion, technology, sports, and philanthropy.

After a great 30 minute back and forth, it was time for the audience to get to ask some questions! I was quick to raise my hand, and was lucky enough to be the first to get called on to ask a question!

TheArnoldFans: Hi Katherine, my name is Brandon Krum, and I actually work at your Dads website 'TheArnoldFans.com'. First off I just want to say that the book is fantastic! I think that your mothers advice to kind of just take a pause is absolutely correct. But my real question is, considering you've written a couple books now, and your Dad and even Patrick work in the film industry, have you ever thought about writing a screenplay, and if so, what genre would it be?

Katherine Schwarzenegger: Umm, no. (She says with a smile) I have not thought of that. My brother likes doing that, so I think he's better at that format then I am, and seems to have a wild imagination in that way, so I'll leave that to him. "

Audience Member: My older son just graduated from college last week, and one of the things that many of them were talking about was student loan debt. And of course there has been some discussion about your Dad and acting, but of course many of us admire your Dad for his politics and his activism in that area, Do you ever see yourself getting involved politically, I mean the whole student loan situation in higher education is just not sustainable the way it's gone up, do you see yourself making your mark in that area as well?

Katherine Schwarzenegger: "I do not see myself going into politics at all. I think that if you grow up in politics you either develop a love for it or a strong dislike for it. I respect everyone in the political world, and admire all the work that they do. I don't think that life is for me. But I think that the issue with student loans is a huge one. I think it's a shame how high the tuitions are now, because I think it's getting harder and harder for people to actually go get a good education. I have two interviews in the book, one with Ron Bergum and one with Joe Kakaty who are experts on student loans and how to get on the right track to pay those back, because it's something that will haunt you forever. So that was definitely a really important topic that we put in the book. And it's something that actually comes up a lot in every interview that I do for this book and whenever I talk about this book. So it's definitely a really big issue that I hope people will try and fix because I think the idea that you wouldn't be able to get an education is a sad thought. "

TheArnoldFans: Is there going to be a New York Book Signing Tour, or any kind of tour for this at all?

Katherine Schwarzenegger: "In New York? "

TheArnoldFans: In New York, or are you going to be doing any kind of tour for signing the book?

Katherine Schwarzenegger: "I did a little bit of it last month, I do not have something planned for right now, but I'll be sure to let everyone know. "

TheArnoldFans: One last question if I may. Considering our venue, do you think Apple will be responsible for future cyborgs? Considering things like The Terminator and things like that your Dad made, I'm just curious what you think.

Katherine Schwarzenegger: "I have no idea." (The Audience laughed and got a kick out of this question)

Audience Member:  (pointing to the title of the book on the screen) I Just Graduated, Now What? Now what (are your plans)?

Katherine Schwarzenegger: "Lovely question, thank you for asking (she says with a laugh) Well I mean I'm on this book tour, so this is my life right now. I also have a lifestyle website which I love doing. And I'm also going to start shooting a show with PopSugar(.com) which will be a web series. I'm not 100% sure (when it will air) but I will let you know when we do know. "

Andrew Bevan: Awesome, Well thank you so much for joining us! And everyone download the book. No matter what your age!

Katherine Schwarzenegger: "Thank you guys all for coming. Yes download the book, whatever phase you are in your life. Thank you! "

After the event ended, I quickly walked outside and to the employee entrance on the side of the Soho Apple store. I saw a black car waiting, and I knew it was there to take her back to the airport. Surprisingly no one else was waiting outside, and after a few minutes, Katherine emerged with her entourage and said her goodbyes, after waiting patiently I asked if I could get an autograph. She happily obliged my request!

I was grabbing my phone in my pocket to ask for a picture with her as well, but her publicist walked up and said she had to go. Wanting to be respectful, I decided not to ask for one, and just ended by letting Katherine know how great the event was, and then she was on her way.

Luckily for me, Katherine posted an image on her Instagram account of the event, and guess who you can see in the front row seat listening intently? It's me! Turns out I got my picture with her after all!

Graduation is a time of tough questions whose answers we don’t—and sometimes can’t—know the day we receive our diploma. Along the way of creating the book, Katherine uncovered the essential and often surprising advice for graduates, including answers to questions like:

• How do I find my first job in a tough economy?

 • How do I decide between a career that pays well and one that I’m passionate about?

 • How do I balance work with friends, relationships, and family?

• Should I take a “gap year” before starting my first job?

• What should I do about my student loan debt?

Drawing on the stories and real-life experiences of contributors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, Eva Longoria, Bear Grylls, and more, Katherine has written the must-have guide for recent and soon-to-be graduates as they prepare to seek success and fulfillment in their work, relationships, and lives.

I highly recommend the book to everyone! Schwarzenegger fans will love to read Arnold's 'advices'! Head to your local book store, or buy the book digitally on the iTunes Store! It's a great read!

New Pics of Arnold with Terminator Facial Damage!

The world can't wait for a new Terminator with Arnold in it as evidenced by the internet exploding with each new spy shot of the Oak around the set! These latest ones seem to show him during a stogie break outside in partial costume and makeup. He clearly has some gashes on his face, so the T-800 has gotten in on some action, but not too much since there's not yet any endoskeleton visible. The outfit he's wearing is slightly different than the one we saw in the earlier on-set pics-- it's a grey shirt, but no buttons this time, and cargo pants instead of jeans. What does this mean-- is it the T-800 in different time branches, is there more than one, or did one outfit get messed up in a battle? Is something else going on, or am I just overthinking something as minute as the clothes he's wearing? Well, when you have so little to go on, it's all speculation for the next year! One thing's for sure, he has certainly gotten back in Terminator pumpitude from the look of those arms! Here are the pics, let us know what you think below!

Here's a side-by-side comparison with the earlier pic (thanks Brandon!):

EXCLUSIVE Terminator Audition Footage & Evander Visits Arnold!

We have some interesting Terminator footage that was dropped off to me via a Skynet HK drone. But first, we got Arnold's first official tweet pic from the set (or at least, in his trailer) and it's with none other than boxing legend Evander Holyfield. Here's the pic from Instagram:

Now on to the meaty exclusive! It is an audition reel for a female role in the new movie that hasn't been cast yet. In it the actress is using what seems to be actual dialogue from the script. Because of this, it's very clear what the role is and along with the content of the dialogue gives some what I would consider light spoilers of the plot and where part of it might be going. Nothing too revealing, but if you've remained in the dark about the overall concept behind the plot of this Terminator or don't want to know what previous characters in the series might come back, then you may want to avoid watching this and the remainder of this article as I'll discuss it more below. We promise we will never post major plot details or spoilers here. With that said, here it is:

The actress is Julie Ness, who is pretty unknown at the moment, having done a couple very small roles in TV and some commercial work. The role is of course, teenage John's "loving" foster mother Janelle, played memorably by James Cameron regular Jenette Goldstein (she also played Vasquez in Aliens). This confirms that we will indeed revisit the events of T2 in some way. Again, this is just an audition video and we have confirmed that the role has NOT been officially cast yet. It could go to Julie, or not.

Beyond the actress, it's interesting what the dialogue exchange tells us. She's talking to a female character since she calls her "lady" at one point. Janelle doesn't know this person, which leads us to believe it isn't Sarah Connor, whom Janelle would've at least seen pictures of. What other female would be telling Janelle that John is "gone" but "safe" and not to trust the police? Hmmmm....

That's all for now-- back to the war against the humans... I mean, machines!

TAFs Talks with the Stars of HBO’s “True Blood”.

HBO’s True Blood will BE BACK for it’s 7th season to premiere on June 22nd. No, we’re not here to announce that Schwarzenegger will be appearing on the show BUT you can expect a couple of his co-stars to return. Sabotage’s Joe Manganiello is back as the Wolf-pack master, Alcide Herveaux, and Terminator 2’s Robert Patrick, as Jackson Herveaux, returns again as Alcide’s dad.

TheArnoldFans is here to pump your blood for the new season so we spoke to several key players in the series. First, I met Joe Manganiello at his Los Angeles office where we spoke of a few topics including this final season of True Blood.

TheArnoldFans: The T-1000 plays your dad in True Blood. What's it like to work with Robert Patrick?

Joe Manganiello: “Robert's awesome. I really, really get along with Robert. Robert will probably be the number one thing I miss the most about True Blood but I just moved into Robert's neighborhood so he and I can get together all the time. He's another cigar aficionado. I love cigars and hanging out with Arnold, it's always cigar time.”

TheArnoldFans: I understand you have a wolf ring, yes?

Joe Manganiello:
"Yeah, they (King Baby) gave me the prototype. They made a Lon Chaney Jr. snarling Wolf Man ring and they gave me the first one."

TheArnoldFans: Nice. Are you a collector? Do you collect anything?

Joe Manganiello: "I collect artwork and paintings. I had a painting commissioned recently of my wolf from True Blood. This oil painter painted this badass snarling wolf. It's a one of a kind oil painting that I have in my office, up over my desk."

Although nothing is confirmed, I hope Joe promotes True Blood soon on Howard Stern or GeekTime on Howard 101.

Joe Manganiello:
"I love Howard and I know Howard loves True Blood. I love Stern."

Next we had the opportunity to chat with Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse / True Blood series.

TheArnoldFans: If an overweight person gets bitten by a vampire and comes back as a creature of the night...can that bit, fat person ever get fit? Or would that person forever be a large person (even if Schwarzenegger trained them daily)?

Charlaine Harris: “I'd really have to think about that, but off the top of my head, in my world you don't change when you're turned. You stay that way forever."

We also spoke to Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), who tells us he likes to “Stay Hungry.”

TheArnoldFans:
Since you're often required to be nude in True Blood, do you feel a need to stay fit, hit the gym and get your Schwarzenegger on?

Sam Trammell: “If only I could get my Schwarzenegger on! I'm just trying to get a passing grade out there--and it TOUGH AS HELL. You know, the camera DOES add 10 pounds and that includes 10 on the gut. YES, I exercise a lot when I know I have to take my shirt off--and by the way, that's the issue. Shirt off or naked--all the same to me. It's the gut. It definitely requires exercise and dieting. Really cutting down the calories. And I don’t even lift weights or do tons of sit-ups. We all have a six pack, it's just about clearing away the fat to see it (not that I was ever fully successful at that). So yes, tons of work to do when you have to be naked and a lot of being hungry...so hungry, you're angry."

Finally, Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse) tells TheArnoldFans his favorite Schwarzenegger film is “Total Recall” while he signed one of my Arnold magazines. With such a fantastic cast...and eye candy of Deborah Ann Woll, we hope you tune into True Lies, I mean True Blood when it returns on June 22nd.

TAFs Exclusive Interview with Twisted Sister's Dee Snider!

At TerrorCon 2014 in Providence RI, Dee Snider of rock band Twister Sister and personality on “Celebrity Apprentice” happily signed photos and copies of his book for fans. He also gladly talked with Amanda of TheArnoldFans about his involvement in Schwarzenegger’s political campaign years ago, along with showing his true fan colors!

DEE SNIDER: "Well, when I got the call from Arnold’s campaign people saying they wanna use “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as his battle cry, so to speak, his campaign song, I was knocked out! Because Arnold did not know this, but my album “Stay Hungry” which had “We’re Not Gonna Take It” on it, was inspired by an Arnold phrase “Stay Hungry”, that was inspired by one of his books."

"His books tend to be very inspirational and motivational, as well as soft of biographical. So the “Stay Hungry” album was dedicated to Arnold and he didn’t know it. So, the fact that he wanted to use the song to inspire him that he inspired me to write, to me was this crazy, full circle thing. And I said, you know, I’m honored to have him use a song of mine that he inspired me to write in the first place."

TAFs: That’s so cool! What is your favorite Arnold movie, or your Top 3, if it’s hard to pick one?

DEE SNIDER: "I would go all the way back to the “Stay Hungry” movie, is a great one. “Conan”, and “Terminator”, those are the big ones. I mean, I like his comedy work and stuff like that, he’s done a lot of great stuff. Oh, and “Predator”, too, you know “PREDATOR”, not “Predator 2”. So yeah, I like Bad Ass Arnold."

You can view Dee below talking to me but the audio is not the best due to the convention crowds. Still, it's good to see Dee...and to see him still pumped for Arnold.

Terminator Roundup! A Truck, A Logo, and A Cast Interview!

$

OK, cyborgs and cyborgettes- here's the latest news straight from Skynet! A couple of days ago, Arnold posted a photo of himself on Facebook/Twitter wearing a USA soccer shirt in support of the World Cup team. Arnold looks cool as always, but in the background of the photo is part of a huge looking truck of some sort. We did some digging and found this other picture someone nabbed near the Terminator set, which is almost certainly the same massive truck. What will this be used for? Is Skynet rounding up humans for termination in the future war, or are the humans using it to transport their own reprogrammed killing machines? Don't know, but it's Arnold's kind of vehicle.

The next Terminator scoop (of sorts) comes from the surprising source of the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. ComingSoon.net spotted a full size endoskeleton there, and at its base was a sign saying simply "Terminator" and "2015." The font is not the traditional Terminator font we've seen variations of with the other movies, but really something all new with only small resemblances.

Now this is not likely to be the final logo or font that will actually be used for marketing the film, given they still don't have an official subtitle for it. It does look more modern, but it seems like a font that other sci-fi movies have used, instead of something distinctly Terminator. I also kind of doubt the endoskeleton is actually a new one since it looks exactly like the Sideshow Collectible endo you can buy HERE if you want (and TAFs would be gratelful)!

We did see an authentic Terminator costume though in this leaked future war armor pic from JoBlo!

We got some future war stuff with Terminator Salvation, but somehow they failed to make it really epic like we've always imagined and have been teased with in each of the Terminators. Let's hope they'll remedy that. The outfit does seem to hearken to the ones worn by Kyle and others in the first film.

Finally, J.K. Simmons spoke with Total Film recently, and in the interview video below, he spoke vaguely about his role in the new Terminator. He only says it's a character that hasn't appeared in any of the films before. So he will not be taking Earl Boen's place as Silberman. He goes on to say he was sceptical of the movie at first, but after reading through the script, he found that it was "really smart... a lot of funny stuff in it and great action." He goes on to say it hearkens back to the first 2 movies, but with a modern sensibility, and "more of an injection of humor." That scares me a little, because more humor is what T3 had and was arguably the worst aspect of it. Now if they can achieve what T2 did in striking the right balance of humor and have it be more situational, like "he'll live" and less cheesy in-your-face jokes like "talk to the hand," then it's OK. J.K. Simmons usually does more comedy roles, so maybe he was more tuned in to those aspects.

That's all for now! I'll be back.

Trivia time! What do these movies have in common: Terminator 2, Ben-Hur, Doctor Zhivago, Fantasia, Twins, The Godfather, High Noon, Lawrence of Arabia, The Sound of Music and Titanic? Answer: they are Arnold Schwarzenegger's top 10 favorite movies! How do I know? Well, because I just picked up a limited edition DVD set that was ONLY given out to Governor Schwarzenegger's staff during his Sacramento time in office.

I do have a second one of these limited edition Governor Schwarzenegger DVD sets containing all 10 films for sale at 200.00 (due to the rarity). Email me HERE if you're interested.
